In this fun class, you will learn how to master three types of popular Japanese bakery breads: an pan man (filled with sweet red bean paste called "anko"), cream pan (filled with custard), and curry pan (filled with curry). You will make your own dough by hand, which you can take home to make extra bread. In addition, you will learn how to mix and proof. Together, we will fill, bake, and decorate our breads in class, which you will also get to take home. You will leave with six of your delicious creations—unless you eat them all during class, which could happen—as well as recipes, your homemade dough, and a cheat sheet documenting the history of these 3 types of Japanese breads

This class is taught by Kaori's Kitchen's resident baker, Eri Hirano C.
"I grew up in Wakayama, Japan. My mother educated my siblings and I by cooking, baking, and eating together. I learned baking from my mother; we baked bread daily and sometimes made enough to share with our neighbors. Baking was my most favorite thing to do since I was a child. Even now, when I bake, I remember baking with her, fun times filled with mom's love."
Eri is a Japanese woman, wife, mom of 3 children, and also a lover of baking and coffee! She learned baking in Japan, and worked as a chef in Korea.

This is my favorite Airbnb experience so far! My boyfriend and I are pretty inexperienced bakers but the instructions were easy to follow and we loved how hands on the class was. We were also lucky enough to be in a small and intimate class size. I enjoyed it so much that I signed up for Kaori's mochi class!

I loved this experience with Kaori's mum - we had no idea that making mochi could be so easy, with such great results! You will eat yourself silly and bring home some impressive looking treats!

We had such a great time on this experience. We baked so many Japanese breads and they were all incredibly delicious! It’s a lot easier than I expected. I would highly recommend this experience.

My husband and I enjoyed the Japanese bread making class hosted by Eri with assistance from Kaori’s mom. We took home some delicious Japanese breads that we made in class and also brought home some dough to fill and bake on our own. The class went by fast, a lot was prepped prior due to timing but we learned the basics of kneading the prepping the bread and what types of fillings to use. Would enjoy the class being a little longer to walk through more steps (as bread making is a patient and detailed process)! But overall enjoyed the class and the bread was delicious.

This Japanese bread class was so much fun and the results beyond delicious. We learned how to prepare the dough and shape and fill the bread with yummy fillings. Three types of Japanese bread were covered, “an pan” red bean paste bun, custard cream bun, and a fried curry bun. My friend and I had such a good time and highly recommend this experience

Great hands-on class! I've always been a lover of Japanese pastries and the class was a great introduction to making them. Eri is knowledgable and helpful. Along with the recipes given to us, I feel confident to make more at home.
