You will learn about the different forms and techniques of the art with the flower symbolism that conveys positive/negative messages.

After the tour, you will learn how to wear the traditional Thai red Jongkrabaen (See photo Gallery), getting you ready for the workshop. (Please bring your own shorts as undergarment.) We will then proceed to the traditional Thai pavilion in the lush tropical garden of the museum where the workshop will be conducted.

This experience is absolutely wonderful! Not to be missed. This was my first visit to the Museum of Floral Culture. It is a very carefully curated museum which is designed and operated by the world renowned florist and stylist, Sakul Intakul. It's quite a magical place, both serene and interesting. Sakul himself will greet you and take you on a tour of the museum. He is an incredibly warm, brilliant and humorous person. He has a vast knowledge about the history of flowers throughout history not just in Thailand but across the world. He explained things to me that I'd never before learnt, not even in floristry school. I found it absolutely inthralling. Once the tour was finished one of Sakul’s assistants helped me dress in Thai traditional pants. This is the traditional outfit for a student. Bring shorts or leggings for this part. Sakul then lead me to an outdoor class room which is a traditional wooden styled pavilion set in a perfectly curated garden. This was the perfect environment of tranquility that allows you to enjoy crafting the floral piece. The piece we made was a floral net that would have traditionally been worn on an elephants head. It was technical and also meditative. Sakul and his assistant guided me through every step and the result was beautiful. He also explained the historical relevance and the tradition behind the piece. During this time I was offered a delicious Thai snack and refreshing tea. After our class was over we sat down for a three course lunch of which Sakul has designed himself. Every little part was delicious and presented beautifully. I have not eaten most these dishes in Thailand before and yet I have sampled a lot of Thai food. It was very impressive. I was a fan of Sakul's work prior to attending this class. Now I have a much deeper appreciation of both his work and his wonderful personality. I'm so delighted to have had the opportunity to meet and learn from him. This experience is class A. Worth every baht and more.
