Create traditional flower art using modern methods

Ikebana is the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging. However after learning history & watching my demo of traditional Ikebana,we’ll experience the modern one.Why will we use preserved flowers? We have the possibility of unlimited creations. The traditional Ikebana can’t live w/o water and you just cut and arrange. Ikebana has an element of craftwork, so you can create a larger variety of art. Preserved flowers are long-lasting so they will serve as a good gift and memory of traveling to the beautiful country of Japan. You’ll feel unconventional & original creating the preserved Ikebana. It makes me happy to think of guests looking @ their preserved Ikebana & remembering a wonderful experience in Japan. Soon, it will be your turn to tell to your family and friends about Ikebana. We were in residence area in Ogikubo (a little bit an adventure from Ogikubo station to my place) so moved to new place in KOENJI, where so exciting place about sub-culture ( just 3 min from KOENJI to my new place) If you are the one who want to know more depth of Tokyo and then it's the best time to hang out KOENJI!(from the end Aug 2018)

I’ve been teaching preserved flower arrangement for over 15years and I have more than 200 students. I’m also a master of Ikebana. As a representative of Japan, I want to show people from outside Japan how beautiful Ikebana is. I graduated from a US college, studied European style in London, and learned branding in Paris. I want to share how Ikebana mixes with everyone's originality.

Nơi bạn sẽ đến

We’ll be in KOENJI, a very popular place called "next SHIBUYA" in recent. My newer room is around so exciting area and you can walk from the Koenji station via to fun shopping street. The building having special atmosphere just like "Ghibli" The nearest station is Koenji (via the JR Chuo & Chuo-Sobu Line, a 3-minute walk away). Lesson was at Ogikubo before fall in 2018. Not only my lesson, I am sure you can enjyoy this attractive district too.

This was a really great introduction to Ikebana. Learning about the historical significance of it; the various styles; and ultimately trying out an introductory style to understand the basic approach to Ikebana. It does feel like something I'm going to try on my own time now.

Yoko is a master of ikebana, but more important than that is her open and kind heart. She gives in a big way and is passionate about sharing her Japanese heritage with others. Explaining ikebana via Japanese eras and philosophies you will understand why and how ikebana became what it is today. Yoko also shared her own journey into ikebana which is just as dynamic and interesting. This experience is a beautiful stepping stone into the art and nature of ikebana.

Yoko san has given an introduction of Ikebana culture and history which is really nice to learn from a lovely local lady before the Ikebana lesson. Yoko san has also demonstrated Ikebana before my practice. There are details to learn while observing from Yoko’s work and she was also so kind to give advise and instructions. She is a very outgoing lady that everyone would enjoy talking with her. When the lessons ends, the Ikebana becomes the most special souvenir that I have never had before. Thank you for sharing the experience and I look forward to more floral experience with you. : )

Loved the experience with Yoko! She was super friendly and extremely skilled in her craft. We also chatted about our travels in Japan and she gave us a lot of insight into the culture of Japan and the history behind the art of Ikebana. Definitely recommend her class!

From the start, Yoko-sensei was warm and friendly and made a special accommodation for a day due to our brief visit in Tokyo. Her directions to her studio were perfect as it’s a short walk from Koenji station. She speaks fluent English and teaches well! We loved learning ikebana history and styles from her, but we especially loved just chatting with her about Japan, travel, and cats! Yoko was a wonderful host, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to have met her. Highly recommend and would love to take more classes from her when we return to Tokyo one day!
