Join me on a guided, yet off the beaten path, tour of the local rainforest and waterfalls. We will hike through creeks and up mountains to reach multiple waterfalls - each one unique. In the first part of the hike, we will walk on flat land through creeks, and I will show you local flaura and fauna as we go. The second part of the hike takes us more uphill, to see the waterfalls, where you can swim in clear blue fresh water. If you want, you can also jump from rocks into the waterfall. I will make sure you feel safe and show you how to climb the rocks and jump if you’d like. We will also cross some bridges over the waterfalls, which give you a beautiful view of the waterfalls and trees from high up. On the third part of the hike, we reach the highest waterfalls. You can choose to scale the mountains using ropes to pull you up, or you can walk on the path which is easier (but still beautiful). You will be surrounded by trees, plants, wildlife (shrimp, lobsters, frogs, butterflies, etc), and of course beautiful waterfalls with pools at the bottom that you can swim in. This is not a commercial coffee tour, it is an educational experience to create awareness in the only organic specialty coffee plantation in the Monteverde area, located in the Ecological Sanctuary, a 48 hectares family project focused on conservation, sustainability, agroecology, education and culture. In a guided workshop by an expert where you will learn from the basics of ancestral agriculture, how we create our own organic fertilizers, then you will know the coffee gardens planted in the forest that surrounds the Ecological Sanctuary, the drying area, and the process that involves the specialty coffee (history, plantations, growth, development, varieties and the science of flavor to prepare a good coffee). After leaving the forest, we will enjoy a guided coffee tasting, sharpening the senses to recognize defects, attributes, aromas and flavors in different qualities of coffee. Finally, we will create an interactive demonstration of the science of flavor and all the variables that an alchemist applies in the preparation of a coffee using different infusion methods. GO TO THE OCEAN! 2 hours Surf Lesson with David Segura, Surf Instructor (ISA Certificate) also 20 years experience teach surfing in Jaco Beach and the area. Once on the beach we will talk about the characteristics of the waves and a description of the beach. Then we will do a little surfing theory class to learn the safety recommendations, surfboard manipulation, correct positioning for paddling, correct positioning of the body on the board, how to get up, balance and posture, recognition of when to grab the wave, and how to enjoy it to the fullest. Then we will practice surfing in the sea. We will use one instructor for every two students to ensure good service and safety. The class can be in shallow water for those who are not used to the ocean. If yo don't know how to swim, it will be not a problem. We can do the practice where you can stand on your feet. Knowing that everyone progresses at different times and has different levels, I focus on a personalized way of teaching. Our first surf lesson will consist of 30 minutes on surfing theory and water safety. As the night grows dark, we'll step into our comfortable kayaks and get ready for a personal encounter with this remarkable phenomenon. For a full hour, you will be enchanted by how every stroke of your paddle leaves behind a swirl of light, and fish light up their path like shooting stars in the water. The more YOU splash the water the more bioluminescent light you will experience. You are in command, the algae will NOT glow on its own, you have to ACTIVATE it with YOUR hands or the paddle. Knowing that everyone progresses at different times and has different levels, I focus on a personalized way of teaching. I do this so you are fully prepared to be an independent surfer who is able to catch green, unbroken waves – one of the best feelings in the world! Our first surf lesson will consist of 30 minutes on surfing theory and water safety. Here, we will touch on topics such as conditions, tides, different kinds of waves and how to read them (i.e. wind, swell and signals). On the beach, we will go through a few drills to make sure you have a solid base and technique. Next, it’s time to hit the water! Once we are in the ocean, every student will have personalized attention. I'll be guiding you through the process and helping you catch your firsts waves, a unique and completely memorable experience! By the end of the lesson our goal is to have you be as independent as possible, you will be able to recognize which waves to catch and how to stand up completely alone.
