Hawkhow Cottage, Glenridding

Hawkhow Cottage compromises four bedrooms and sleeps seven comfortably or eight cosily. Upstairs you will find three bedrooms (one King, one double and one twin) and a bathroom. Downstairs there is an additional bedroom (small double), a shower room and a traditional Aga-warmed kitchen. The glass and oak-framed extension provides a large living room with log burning stove and a galleried dining area. The property will be prepared ready for your arrival with freshly laundered bed linen and bath towels supplied for your stay. We have provided a selection of games, puzzles and toys to keep you entertained inside (and the optional use of a TV and Xbox One) as well as books, maps and guides to help you plan your activities outside. There is ample parking on-site. Guests also have shared use of the main house’s extensive gardens and grounds, including the sauna. Please note that the garden is steep with drop-offs in places, it has a number of steps and paths that can be extremely slippery, as well as running water courses, ponds and bridges. As well as having Ullswater on your doorstep for sailing, kayaking and wild swimming, there are a number of fabulous walks and bicycle rides that can be started from the cottage without ever needing to get into your car. Keen walkers can even start the climb to Helvellyn by walking up the garden to join recognised footpaths. Glenridding is a beautiful 15 minute walk along the Lake and provides a number of cafes, pubs and shops as well as access to the famous Ullswater Steamers. A slightly longer walk along the Lake in the opposite direction will take you past Glencoyne Bay, the inspiration for William Wordsworth’s ‘Daffodils’ poem, to the popular Aira Force waterfall and trails maintained by the National Trust.

Rather shabby but full of character & very cosy. Port Carlisle has a faded splendour - built on the site of a fishing village, for a brief time it was a major port serving Carlisle, with its own canal & later a railway; in the 1850s the Firth silted up so ships could no longer get in. Birdwatchers, walkers, fans of history, dogs will love it!

The traditional stone cottage has a lovely garden at the front with lots of space to sit and enjoy the views, there is ample parking space and a sitting area at the rear of the cottage. Recently Renovated and upgraded. Property is approx 300 yrs old and is listed, supposed to have been a hideout of William Hare, from Burke & Hare folklore/fame. Fully renovated in early 2010. We are situated in the centre of Annan, but in a very secluded situation. The property consists of Kitchen/Dining room, Sitting room, downstairs w/c. Two twin rooms and a recently refurbished shower room upstairs. Unfortunately we have no garden area, but there is space to sit outside the front.
