The Pearl of Whakatiwai. A completely restored Bed/kitchen/dining room with separate shower and toilet. This house was built in the 50's and so we have lovingly recreated the whole 50's vibe for your enjoyment. Right on the edge of the Firth of Thames you can lie in bed and see the views that go on forever. A great little kitchen with new oven and fridge, plus all the tools you need if you want a "foodie" get away. We do not have a TV, but great WiFi. Great fishing right on your doorstep.

Beaches are within an easy drive.

Come relax & unwind & recharge your batteries. We are 1 hour 20 mins from Auckland international Airport. Sorry no late check-out.

Enjoy the birdsong, sunrise and daytime hours in the shady, tropical garden at the rear of the house with its generous outdoor seating and dining facilities, and take in the sunset from the deck and coastal garden in the front of the house.

You're spoilt for choice with excellent dining options 10-20 minutes away and Waihi Beach just a 25-minute drive, indulge in relaxation. Explore Karangahake Gorge walkways 5 minutes down the road. The Bus Depot is a rustic retreat overlooking the beautiful firth of Thames. A beautifully restored 1979 Bedford bus which has all the modern comforts but still retains original features of the bus, this area has sleeping for two along with kitchen area, fridge, gas stove and a dining area on the covered deck. From the daybed to the loft space or going for a walk on the farm or just sitting in front of the fire you can enjoy the views at this outstanding location.

Each site is convenated by QEII National Trust who describe Mahakirau "outstanding for it's ecology and wildlife value with brown kiwi, kaka, Hochsetetter's and Archey's frogs all present". A spacious house in a bush setting, sit back and relax, take a bush walk down to the stream on the property and star gaze at night.

There is no internet or TV so you can have a quiet getaway where you can forget the stresses of life & relax. We are on the Kauaeranga Valley Rd close to all the walking tracks, so if you are wanting to walk the tracks during the day & stay with us at night the cabin would be perfect for you.
