Santiago de los Caballeros, named after the 30 aristocrats who followed Columbus and settled here in 1495, was the first capital of the country until it suffered an earthquake in 1562. Today it is the second largest city in the Dominican Republic, and nicknamed Heart City thanks to its location in the center of the Cibao Valley, is a thriving modern city in shops, financial centers, education and services, with a vibrant culture. That vibrant culture is the one that I would like to show you as a local.
It's a walking tour through Los Pepines murals, the most characteristic and emblematic neighborhood around the city. As local I'd love to show you this amazing place in my particular way.
You will have ample time to take pictures while being enlightened by my commentary on the neighborhood's historic and cultural significance. The murals aren't just art for art's sake; they have stories to tell and messages to share with the community and the world. Some murals adorn more than just walls. Any and every surface can have artistic value.
