The castle in Woerden was built between 1407 and 1415 [1] as a castle by Duke John of Bavaria, Lord of Woerden. The castle is square in shape, has a drawbridge and three round and a rectangular tower. The moat has been subdued for a long time, but the castle is now largely surrounded by water on a peninsula in the canal, next to the much later built St. Bonaventure church.
