Arkadi Monastery is located near the village Amnatos, 23km east of Rethymno. It is built at an altitude of 500m, on a fertile plateau with olive groves, vineyards, pine, cypress and oak trees. Around the monastery there are several picturesque chapels and from there starts the beautiful Arkadi gorge.

Argyroupolis Waterfalls! Waterfalls are located in several gorges of the region, but the most easily accessible ones are in Argyroupolis. The water that gushes from the chapel of Agia Dynami forms many small waterfalls and also waters the rich vegetation that surrounds them. The Venetian Fortezza fortress is built on the "Paleokastro" hill, located on the west side of the city. On the same hill the Acropolis of the ancient city of Rithymna was located, along with a sanctuary dedicated to Goddess Artemis. The Fortezza fortress was built between 1573-1580 by the Venetians in order to protect the citizens from the Turkish threat.

The Fortezza fortress was built between 1573-1580 by the Venetians in order to protect the citizens from the Turkish threat.
