It provides an antidote to the happy-hour, sugar rush excess of the Simon-Dach-Strasse and is stuffed with comfy sofas on which to recline with a drink in hand. It’s still a bit of a dive, with its bare brick walls, but the ambience is relaxed and friendly and the cocktails a cut above what’s available elsewhere in the neighbourhood. The bartenders are friendly, tolerate of English speakers with poor German, and sometimes even give you bar snacks! They allow smoking inside but the bar is well ventilated and not hazy. The drink prices are a little higher than average for the area, but the quality is also much better, so it's worth the money. The location is very convenient and because it isn't located right on Boxhagener Platz it is less crowded than other nearby bars, although you might have to stand for a bit until a couch opens up.
