5 min walk to Oakland Lake. Oakland Lake is a 15,000-year-old spring-fed glacial kettle pond located in Alley Pond Park. The lake, once known as Mill Pond, became known as Oakland Lake, named for the 19th century estate on this site called “The Oaks” for the many oak trees in the area. Oakland Lake is fed by underground springs and a ravine, and at one time it was speculated that the lake was 600 feet deep and had a massive underground river leading to nearby Little Neck Bay. In 1969, a diving expedition went in search of the lake bottom, undergoing elaborate emergency prevention measures in case the alleged river’s current was too strong. Bayside Marina offers daily fishing and boating rentals, seasonal dock space and mooring rentals and provide 24/7 launch service.We have a full service Snack Bar. Our facilities are handicap accessible. Public parking is available Mon-Fri until 3PM excluding holidays. A Parking Permit is required after 3PM Mon-Fri & after 10AM on weekends & holidays. Vehicles without a permit will be towed at owner's expense. Contact marina staff for information on alternate parking options.
