Filey: What to do: Filey beach has been ranked in the top six beaches in the world that are great for kids, and it is the only beach in the UK to make it onto the list. Filey is the perfect place for those who enjoy a gentler pace of life, a little off the beaten track, and all the better for it! With its glorious sweep of soft, golden sand, Filey beach is one of the best in the country for families. It is so huge that, no matter how busy it gets, it is never crowded. It is the perfect place to take a walk, fly a kite, build a sandcastle, have a snooze in a deckchair, or maybe do a spot of bird watching. At Filey Brigg, a peninsula at the northern end of the town, in the early spring, you may find yourself face to face with a snoozing Seal on the beach, and in the summer, Porpoise sightings are a regular occurrence. Then why not follow it up with a trip to the much-loved Coble Landing. A slipway with a picturesque jumble of boats and kiosks, for a cuppa and a bacon buttie? Where to eat: The Boat Shed: Filey's popular, relaxed, affordable pizza and gin bar. Try the baked camembert and a gin cocktail, or our local Wold Top Brewery's, Wold Gold. Monsoon: Indian restaurant and takeaway. Everyone loves good Indian cuisine, and Monsoon does not disappoint. Bella Italia: Not the chain restaurant, but a traditional family Italian Restaurant, which serves some fantastic dishes at affordable prices. The Brown Rooms: Traditional fish and chips, serving fresh fish and take away.

Scarborough: What to do: Scarborough is the original seaside resort: Stunning scenery, glorious beaches, loads of things to see and do. Is it any wonder that people have been flocking to Scarborough for nearly 400 years? You can still immerse yourself in Scarborough's history with Scarborough Castle and the Rotunda Museum of Geology. You could venture down to the seafront, to enjoy the traditional amusement arcades, ice cream parlours, shellfish stalls and beach huts, all of which have not changed much over the years. You still buy a good old fashioned stick of rock with you name in it too! Outdoor adventures can be found in great numbers: Try boating in Peasholm Park; take a ride on the miniature railway; be daring on the Sky Trail Adventure bridge and beam course; splash about at the world class Alpamare Waterpark, and make friends with the penguins at Scarborough Sea Life Sanctuary. But, despite its rich history, Scarborough does not live in the past. The town is constantly innovating to keep its place as one of the most popular holiday destinations in the UK. Explore the Scarborough website to find out more. Where to Eat: Gianni's Restaurant: Italian restaurant serving pizza, pasta, and steaks. Highly recommended: Filleto Rossini! Eat Me: A small café serving breakfast, British and Asian lunches, along with a variety of evening meals. Lazenby's: French cuisine for lunch and evening meal. The mussels are a speciality! Bryherstone's Inn: For the best steak pie ever! Scarborough Tandoori Restaurant: Classic and modern Indian dishes served in a very modern environment. Excellent Indian cuisine at affordable prices. Indian Lounge: A great favourite with the locals. Friendly atmosphere and excellent food make this one of the best Indian restaurants in town!

Neighbourhoods

We love our cosy caravan in Thornwick Bay Holiday Village: It is a few years old now and has that cosy lived in feel. It is beautifully situated in the park, directly opposite the entertainment complex, facing the swimming pool. We often stay in the caravan ourselves, with family and the occasional family dog. We love the peaceful walks by the sea, and in the town. It is a warm friendly place and there is a lot to do and see. The local natives and the neighbours are all very friendly, and there is a very happy, pleasant atmosphere around the holiday village. In fact we enjoy the general feeling of the place and the scenery so much, we decided to let the caravan, so others can enjoy our little home from home, as much as we do. My name is Lew and I am a Field Health Care supervisor. My other half is called Kate and she is an NHS Generic therapist, working in Bridlington Hospital. The site has a host of facilities including: Lighthouse Bar and Restaurant. Cooks Fish and Chip Takeaway. Show Bar. Supermarket. Swimming Pool with Slides. Soft play area. Outside Play Parks. Amusements. Activities such as: Target Shooting, Segways, Nature Rocks outdoor skills and Archery. Fishing Lake. (Fishing Rod Licence Required). The views on the coast are truly stunning and their is an abundance of wildlife. The North Yorkshire coast is steeped in history and there are many places of historical interest to visit. Thornwick Bay is within easy reach of Bridlington, Filey, and Scarborough, either by car or various forms of transport are available. Come rain or shine, there is always something to do, and something for everybody, both young and old in Thornwick Bay. We hope you grow to love the experience as much as we do. We particularly hope that you enjoy your stay at our Cosy Caravan and you might come back to visit again in the future.
