If you have come this far, you need to visit Waterton Lakes National Park, only 1 hour away. It has grown in popularity in the last few years so it can be busy. There is a quaint town with excellent restaurants and pubs plus fantastic ice cream.
If wilderness hikes are more your thing, check Parks Canada website for suggestions. Since the 2018 wildfires, some trails may still be closed. National Park entry fee is required.
