Karura forest is an urban forest in the middle of Nairobi and 8 minutes away from our apartments. The place is mostly associated by he late professor Wangari maathai, the Nobel peace prize winner. Below are the activities you can enjoy at Karura;

If you are looking for a serene, chilled out place for picnics, weddings, team buildings, family gatherings or just general outdoor activities then look no further. This is the place! They have put in measures to ensure the safety of the guests during this Covid-19 pandemic. As you enter the premises, you get your temperature taken and they make sure you sanitize. There is a reminder to observe social distancing and avoid large gatherings.
You are welcomed by the beautiful sceneries of the dam that is surrounded by the tall bamboo trees on one side and grass on the other side.
There are quite a number of picnic sites you can choose from. They have small makuti bandas where you can set up your cooking area and we got one called Sungura(Rabbit).

Wide open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded. Visitors can enjoy the park’s picnic sites, three campsites and the walking trails for hikers.
The park is only 50 Minutes away from our apartments. 23km in distance.

The Africa Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W.) Kenya was founded in 1979 by the late Jock Leslie-Melville, a Kenyan citizen of British descent, and his American-born wife, Betty Leslie-Melville. They began the Giraffe Centre after discovering the sad plight of the Rothschild Giraffe. A subspecies of the giraffe found only in the grasslands of East Africa.
The Giraffe Centre has also become world-famous as a Nature Education Centre, educating thousands of Kenyan school children every year.
