Launch your boat onto the St. Mary's River for some of the best fishing around or just sit back for a few and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The 4th July parade is a hoot and the fireworks are awesome, local or visitor you will be welcomed by all.

The gateway to Lake Superior, visit the Soo Locks and watch the great lakes freighters pass through, visitor center has good educational exhibits and information on best times to view freighters.
Affectionately known as the Soo it has everything you need locally from essentials to thrifting to tourist goodies, plenty of good restaurants. Other tourist activities include the Tower of History, Soo Locks Tours and The Valley Camp Museum Ship.
For those who love to get active kayak, canoe or paddleboard on the St. Mary's River or Lake Superior or take a Twilight walking tour of the Soo and learn about its rich history.

A great day out from our cottage, Tahquamenon is about 75 miles away.
Make sure you have your Michigan State Parks Pass (also known as the DNR recreational passport)
There is a path between the falls but we prefer to visit both separately, the lower falls has row boats for hire to get across to the island. The upper falls is more dramatic, there are plenty of photo ops along the pathway or you can get up close on the lower viewing platforms. Be aware there are a LOT of steps to these platforms so bring your walking shoes.
The Tahquamenon Falls Brewery & Pub is a good place to stop for a beverage and something to eat.
