Having lived in London, I call this "My Regular". Cozy brewery for house beers sold only on-premise and to-go, plus wine, kombucha, espresso & house tacos. Legit tacos, guacamole all day. SINFUL queso fundido.
The living room area feels like a British pub with couches, board games, books. The walls open up garage-style for indoor/outdoor fluidity. Misters and fans for the outside seating.
Dog friendly, authentic staff who enjoy their jobs and each other and will likely remember your name. Locals hang out here. I have so much respect and appreciation for this company and the community they create.

Seasonally inspired farm to table restaurant serving American cuisine in a Dim Sum Style. My favorite high-end dining nearby.
From the Statesman 2018 Best Restaurants in Austin:
#1: Emmer & Rye
51 RAINEY ST., SUITE 110
A small larder sits between the bar area and open kitchen at Emmer & Rye. The closet holds a selection of Mason jars that contain the restaurant’s current fermentation projects. At some point, those culinary science experiments will make their way to your plate — maybe in the form of wild Texas plum umeboshi, or mesquite vinegar.
Larder is kind of a nerdy (and vintage) word for pantry. Airing episodes of “The Splendid Table” over the bathroom speakers is also kind of nerdy. But the folks at Emmer & Rye have turned their obsessive passions into pleasure for guests, transmuting science to art. Mining their brains to make you feel good.
The restaurant helped educate diners about the importance of heritage grains in a capital-driven society usually looking to squeeze every dollar out of commercial food production. But their milling of ancient grains to make bread and pasta isn’t just a lesson in economics, sustainability or anthropology. It’s a study in flavor and textures.

From their website: Just as in Italy where the food is genuine and locally sourced, you'll find the same at Intero with farm-to-table Italian cuisine. At its core, the concept behind Italian cooking stems from necessity and gratitude for regionally available ingredients. Translating to “whole’’ in Italian, Intero embraces this ideology by utilizing whole local ingredients from their entirety, paired with traditional Italian techniques and cooking sensibilities. This naturally sustainable approach allows for innovative, yet familiar dishes that highlight the seasonal availability of what’s grown and raised in Texas.
On the sweeter side, Italy was fundamental in the development of chocolate as we appreciate it today. Providing an authentic nod to this rich history, Intero specializes in offering house-made, handcrafted artisan chocolates (including truffles, barks, and sipping chocolate) along with other traditional Italian desserts in classic, seasonal and unique flavors.
Additionally, enjoy an extensive Amari collection, select wines, and craft cocktails in Intero’s warm and comfortable atmosphere for indoor and outdoor dining.

Cosmic Saltillo
Brand new 2nd location for Cosmic right in the heart of East Austin. One of the owners is an old-school ATX figure. He used to own a legendary music venue, Momo's where was all played for years.
Start here for coffee and tacos. End here for nightlife. Indoor, outdoor, beautiful gardens and landscaping, roof deck.
This is a 10-acre sit on Austin's 1st Railyard in what used to be the Texaco Depot.
The walk-up taqueria is inspired by the food of Southern New Mexico, El Paso/Juarez and San Diego/Tijuana. The centerpiece taco is a Quinceañera brisket taco, made with shredded brisket and served on a corn tortilla with vinegar slaw and red table sauce. The breakfast version includes pickled red onions and a sunny-side-up egg. There’s also a chilaquiles taco in the morning. The afternoon and evening offerings include guajillo-marinated chicken, pork carnitas, nopales and fish tacos.
A selection of housemade aguas frescas like watermelon and hibiscus that can be spiked with vodka or tequila. The drinks menu from partner Jason Stevens (formerly of Bar Congress, Second Bar + Kitchen, et al) will also include a take on a horchata, with sweet and condensed coconut milk, spiced with cardamom and cinnamon, served in a coconut. That horchata can be kicked up with cold brew or alcohol.

This historic dive has been various music venues for over 50 years. If the walls could talk... They always seem to whisper to me to drink more than normally would or should. Always excellent music that is usually danceable and with an African twist. The owners are old-school Austin musicians.

Recreational outdoor swimming pool that is filled entirely with water from nearby natural springs. It is located on the grounds of Zilker Park. The pool exists within the channel of Barton Creek and utilizes water from Main Barton Spring, the fourth largest spring in Texas. The pool is a popular venue for year-round swimming, as its temperature hovers between about 68 °F (20 °C) and 74 °F (23 °C) year round.
Some Austinites swim here daily, no matter air temperature, as a spiritual practice.

Started in 1988 by Vince Hannemann, the Cathedral of Junk is an ever-evolving passion project involving over 60 tons of junk. Old bikes, appliances, hubcaps, TVs — you name it. They’re all cobbled together to form a massive “cathedral” that spans Vince’s entire back yard.
While he originally had to scavenge for junk to start his project, it wasn’t long before people were donating their old possessions to help him expand his “cathedral” — making it bigger and adding more rooms in the process.
The Cathedral of Junk in Austin, Texas
A number of years ago the city of Austin, Texas, tried to shut it down, saying it was too much junk and a safety concern. (In truth, the neighbors thought it was an eyesore and complained to the city) So Vince and an army of volunteers pared down the structure and brought it up to code so the site could stay open.
