Beautiful Beaches
This beautiful beach is located next to Fort Gaines on the very furthest east end of the island. It is a beautiful beach with a few small coves for kids to play in calm waters. Leashed dogs are welcome.

The Central Public Beach is a 7 minute bike ride from the Hideaway. They also have ample parking for cars as well. Very scenic view from the pier, taking you out to the beach. Leashed dogs are welcome.

The sea lab includes a 10,000-square-foot Exhibit Hall, a 7,000-gallon stingray touch pool, and the Living Marsh Boardwalk. This facility has 31 aquariums totaling over 30,000 gallons with more than 100 species on display. It showcases the plants, animals, and other natural resources found in the estuary and its surrounding marine habitats.

They allow dogs as well when dining on their outside patios. They have trivia night on Tuesdays (try to arrive by 6pm for a 7pm start. They get busy!) and karaoke nights. Islanders is across the street from the main public beach.

Bring Groceries
We would recommend bringing the bulk of the groceries you will need during your stay on Dauphin Island. We do have a small grocery store on the island that is walking distance from the Hideaway. They sell a lot of necessity items, but their prices are a bit higher. We shop at Greer's Market (10835 Dauphin Island Pkwy) before heading onto the island for our stay. They offer a larger selection of food and drinks.

Sunday Sunset Concert Series
May through October, enjoy live concerts at West End beach. Bring your chairs and blankets to enjoy live music on the beach. $5/per person (12 and under is free). West End beach is located at Bienville Blvd, the furthest west point on Dauphin Island

Walking, biking, and golf carts are a fun way to get around
Dauphin Island allows golf carts on all roads as the speed limit is 35 mph. This is a fun way to get around during your stay. The Hideaway has plenty of parking. There are two locations on the island that rent golf carts for your stay, both within walking distance of the Hideaway:
