On Sundays you'll see tons of people skating by the viewpoint. After that, take the stairs up over the railroad and back down and you'll be only a few blocks away from Frenchmen and the French Market.

Everything in New Orleans is close by, so Ubers are cheap and you can get places quickly. I strongly urge you to venture outside the French Quarter and see all that New Orleans has to offer!
