Carter Falls in Elkin is a great place to swim and to check out the waterfalls without a big hike. From the Carter Falls Trailhead (or Powerhouse Trailhead) it is 1 mile roundtrip.

Hole in the wall place to eat. Almost scared to eat here because of the lack of housekeeping. It does have some of the best hamburgers around and the sweet tea is awesome! Not a ton of seating if you have a large group.

Bring your clubs and play 18 holes. I mean you are staying on the 13th hole so why not! If nothing else go to the clubhouse. The clubhouse view of the mountains puts mine to shame. Drive to the top of the hill in the back of the clubhouse and park there, then get out and take a look. They do have a restaurant inside open 7 days a week.

Very nice town 30 minutes away. Great places to eat on the main strip and a good place to shop in the downtown. They have a local theater that plays musical acts. Check them out for showtimes.

About 30 minutes away. Really nice mountain views, some shopping and food. It has a really small downtown area. If you have never been you should go. A small town in the mountains.
