Peasholm park is a beautifully calm place to escape the crowds & heat with lovely dappled shade. It's worth taking a wander through in the evening as it looks wonderful lit up. Cross the bridge to see the island & the Japanese garden. You can hire dragon pedalo boats during high season

Scarborough Castle stands a few minutes walk away from Coastal Retreat on the headland. It gives unprecedented views of the north and south bays. It also helps you get your bearings if you are new to the area. It is one of Scarborough's many tourist attractions that gives a glimpse into its rich history.

Scarborough Castle
Scarborough Castle stands a few minutes walk away from Coastal Retreat on the headland. It gives unprecedented views of the north and south bays. It also helps you get your bearings if you are new to the area. It is one of Scarborough's many tourist attractions that gives a glimpse into its rich history.
The Italian garden's on the south bay are lovely all year but particularly beautiful in spring and summertime. Locals have hung bird feeders & food to encourage wildlife. Sit on one of the many benches, smell the flowers, listen to the bird song & watch the squirrels. A great place for nature.

Filey Brigg is a great place to get away from it all. I recommend going at low tide to explore the rock pools & crevices. Take binoculars & you should see heron resting on the rocks.

One of the best places for a high chance of seeing Albie- believed to be the only Albotross in the northern hemisphere. Also has areas to encourage garden birds. Free parking with admission.

This is a great place all year round. There are the old & new lighthouses and a cheap & cheerful cafe. If you at the right time of year you might be lucky enough to see a herd of seals resting on the beach. Please don't disturb them as they often injure themselves rushing away from the humans.

Ravenscar is a fascinating place that nearly was. Go inside the visitor centre & cafe to find out it's intriguing history. Take a walk down to the rocky shoreline to explore the interesting geology. A great place to look for fossils & seals.

The Cleveland Way footpath by the Old Scalby Mill pub takes you up the sea cliff towards Whitby.
When the wind comes in at a high tide you can see large crashing waves against the sea wall.
