Goathland is the setting for the classic TV series Heartbeat. Its a 40 minute drive away but definitely worth a day out if you have the time. Goathland offers you a working steam railway, lots of Heartbeat memories and some great walks down to Beck Hole and around the Yorkshire moors.

Located on the cliffs of the south bay, the grade 2 listed gardens originally opened in 1914 and have recently undergone restorations. A lovely walk all year round.

A great coastal walk running north and south. Yes it can be windy and very exposed but wonderful sights to be had. Always check the tides if you are wanting to pop down to the many little bays and plan your routes carefully. Personally, we enjoy walking sections for sunrise and sunsets. Enjoy.

Old Scarborough to Whitby Railway (Cinder Track)Originally a steam railway running from Scarborough to Whitby. Starting just behind the large Sainsburys and set further back from the coast. Scalby is our first stop for a drink at The Plough. If you are feeling fit, carry onto Ravenscar or Robin Hood's Bay!
Great views from the war memorial and a cafe at the top for a cup of tea. You may see a few motorbikes around as the mount turns into a racetrack on some weekend and is known as one of the UK's most dangerous circuits.

Just a short walk up the hill takes you to one of our favourite Italian restaurants. Being small and friendly, you will need to book! We have always had great food and wine here & love that its a short walk home.

Located on the 1st floor of the Stephen Joseph Theatre is a great spot for global / Asian inspired food. We enjoy this place for its different take on breakfasts and lunches.
Only a short walk across Valley bridge opposite the train station.

This is our favourite place to get fish & chips by the sea! Great if you can get a window seat on the first or second floor to watch the world go by. We have always loved to share their special Jumbo fish with all the extras.

This is the pub you can see from the front window. A very traditional pub thats first on our list due to its location. A decent selection of drinks and simple home cooked food. (the Nachos are highly recommended). Also family and dog friendly.

A great Irish pub located on Eastborough - just a short walk into town. One of our favourite drinking spots in the colder months as they usually have the fire going. Also great for entertainment as there is usually a band/karaoke or event on that is worth popping in for.

A recent new favourite for us. We love popping in here for the amazing pancakes & waffle breakfasts they do aswell as lovely hot chocolates and chai lattes. There are plenty of vegan and vegetarian breakfast & lunch options and some lovely homemade cakes which we have yet to try. We have always been made to feel so welcome here and they are also dog friendly which means we can bring our dog out for breakfast before walking down to the beach.
Best to check opening times/menus available online as they regular change their breakfast opening hours depending on time of year. They are easy to find on social media
