If you are visiting from afar and don't know about this place, you will probably be interested. This former Webb family estate is in Shelburne, on Lake Champlain. Great food, but on the expensive side. The grounds include the historic home - which is an Inn and also the restaurant location and a farm barn.

In the middle of everything. Very good food. Sit on the patio on Church Street and watch the world of people go by. Local scoop - there is a small 2nd floor of the restaurant if you want a very nice, more private setting. Not inexpensive.

Set aside 5 or 6 hours and drive to the head of the Burrows Trail. The uphill hike takes 3 to 4 hours depending on pace, and about 1.5 hours down. Commanding views of the Champlain Valley and Lake Champlain.

Our home is its own nature center. Ducks, loons and an occasional Great Blue Heron can be seen in and around the lake, and behind our property are recreation paths maintained by the Lake Iroquois Recreation District. If you are adventuresome, there is approximately 600 acres of undeveloped woods behind our house to explore, so bring a compass.
