middle priced restaurant next to a lake in the Tiergarten and one of my favourites. German style food which also serves pizza. Often they have wood burning stoves going and you can take a walk around the lake after eating. The hot chocolate is recommended!

At the south west end of the Gendarmenmarkt there is a chocolate shop called Fassbender & Rausch which sells delicious chocolate and has a café upstairs with Berlin’s best hot chocolate!

At the south west end of the Gendarmenmarkt there is a chocolate shop called Fassbender & Rausch which sells delicious chocolate and has a café upstairs with Berlin’s best hot chocolate!

Pariser Platzfamous gate, kind of a must see to tick off and easy to walk past if visiting the Reichstag and the Holocaust memorial. Worth walking down the road into the tiergarten and seeing the photograph on the right hand side showing the gate when the Berlin wall came down.

It was restored but still shows signs of the bullet holes from the conflict around it.
