Stand on top of the Rock of Gibraltar and feel on top of the world; Europe below. Africa on one side and the gates to the Med and the Atlantic on the other. Experience truly breathtaking views. From a height of 426m you will see the African coastline, where the waters of the Atlantic meet the Mediterranean, Spain’s Costa and a panoramic view of the City far below, the quays, marinas and bays. Stroll the quiet path to St Michael’s Cave and you will be alone with nature.
No unauthorised private vehicles are permitted in the nature reserve, however a number of walking, taxi or bus tours are available.

Visit the Apes’ Den, home to some of Gibraltar’s famous Barbary macaques, the only free-to-roam primates in Europe. According to legend, if the Apes leave Gibraltar it will cease to be British.

This walk is steep and at times arduous, and not for people without a head for heights. Time is an important factor when negotiating this path. Early mornings are usually preferable, but during the summer months a late afternoon walk will provide the visitor with plenty of much-needed shade. The area is particularly appealing during the spring, when the visitor is greeted by an interesting and very beautiful array of flowers.
