A small place, for a modern take on the local classics. Its size helps great quality. The concept of small plates. I love all things raw at that place, as well as fish. Their dessert sample plate is super yummy. Do try to make a reservation, as its size makes it unlikely that you will be able to just stop by.

While Adriatic has great food lately, it is also a lovely spot to have a good coffee. I like to sit facing the sea. I also frequently use it as my open air office, as they have good wifi connection.

While not the best looking place in town, Brancin da Nino carries seldom types of fish (like baraya or shargo) that cannot be farmed and that in my experience are always super fresh (ask for wild caught catch of the day). Ask if they have raw Kvarner shrimps (they do not have those always, but when they do it is out of this world). Additionally, ask for sea urchin roe pasta--it is super tasty.

While not the best looking place in town, Brancin da Nino carries seldom types of fish (like baraya or shargo) that cannot be farmed and that in my experience are always super fresh (ask for wild caught catch of the day). Ask if they have raw Kvarner shrimps (they do not have those always, but when they do it is out of this world). Additionally, ask for sea urchin roe pasta--it is super tasty.
For upscale food and wine experience, this is one of the oldest and best restaurants in town. Any type of sea food tends to be amazing at this place. However, their quality comes with a pretty high price tag.

For an ultimate experience of dinning at the very sea with amazing views. We go there for our special dinners. It is pricey, but it is also good quality food. If you want to experience it while spending less, I suggest to go later for a glass of wine and/or dessert that you may enjoy while sitting at the rocks, right by the city beach. Reservation recommended.

Pizzeria Amici has great rustic pizzas and is situated in a quiet beautiful square. Terrace under the trees is a really great spot to relax.

Tutto Benne is situated a bit off the bitten paths and so is their food. They take local, fresh ingredients and create local dishes with a twist. On a pricey side, but a real foody spot.

Lastavica is actually a kiosk by the farmer's market (the map is off). I highly recommend them for burek only (burek is Balkan filled dough with cheese, meat, or similar--I recommend cheese one). It is pretty big, rich, and filling so it may be shared with someone. I suggest taking yogurt along with it for a perfect breakfast, brunch, or a beach snack.

Essentials
Rovinj farmers' market is right on the opposite side of the old town, by the sea. It has fresh produce as well as meat and fish. Rule of thumb: go earlier and buy at the stands where old ladies sell their not perfectly looking but super tasty produce :) Also, besides fish market that is indoors, there is also a Butiga in which bakery Mrvisa is situated: I highly recommend it for all kinds of bread. Right by it, there is a stand with prosciutto, other cured meats, and various cheese--I recommend that place as well.

Getting Around
Here you can take a boat to either Saint Catherine or Saint Andrew islands. The former has great diving rocks (of various sizes) diagonally opposite from the mol at which you arrive. Saint Andrew or Red Island has a hotel on it, with a pool, many activities, and touristy beaches, but is also attached to another island, with lots of wild life at it and natural rock beaches. Boats go on every hour/half an hour (depending on the part of the season). You buy ticket only before coming back, at the hotel on the island.

Here is the bus stop that may take you to many places (like Pula, Rijeka, Zagreb, etc. but also internationally, Vienna, Venezia, etc.). While Croatian public transportation is deteriorating, it is still a decent option for getting around.

At Montalbano 2 (if you just take it to the right at the end of our street) there is an amazing art gallery. It is run by a very creative artist, Tanja, who creates her art from the driftwood and garbage found at the Adriatic beaches. You can find original souvenirs there (like wooden magnets and shopping bags), but also very creative and humorous sculptures created by up-cycling found objects thus contributing to the sustainable environment. Tanja is friendly and witty and feel free to say that you are my guests :)

Parks & Nature
A beautiful forest that meets beautiful beaches. Great to explore on foot or by bike (has many bike paths). There is a rock climbing spot by the sea ere, as well as several restaurants and cafes by the sea.

The boat leaves every hour from 6:30am until 12:30am (comes back every hour from 6:00am until 1:00 am). On the island itself there is a hotel with a pool, nicely arranged beaches, several restaurants, including a beautiful bar and restaurant in the castle, perfect for stunning sunsets. There is another island (Mashkin) connected by a bridge that is more of a wild kind, so a ride to the island offers both secluded wild spots and "civilization". Round ticket is 40 kunas and it is to be bought on the island (no need for a ticket after 9pm).
