Bars and pubs

There are plenty of lovely wee bars and pubs in and around Leith just walking distance from 'Bonnie wee Duke Street'
This is my favourite little bar just 5 minutes from the flat on Leith walk. Voted one of the top 50 bars in the UK Abode has a great selection of wine and beer. You will be greeted by the owners Nathan and Louise along with the all the friendly locals. There is outdoor seating with shelter and heaters - a must have for Scottish weather!

Great wee pub. It's a bit rough around the edges but if you want to see Leith in all it's glory then stop by Port'O'Leith for a wee pint. The selection of wine and beer isn't anything to write home about but you've not been to leith until you've been to the Porto!

Couldn't be more convenient, literally on the same street as the flat. Really nice bar with lovely staff, great selection of wine, beer and boards! Pop in on your way out or you way home and you will not be disappointed!

Teuchters Landing is the biggest beer gardens on this side of town and it's on the water - what more could you want. There has also been a recent mural painted on the walls which gives you the story of Leith in all it's glory, a beer and some art! Great pints, great people!

If you are into good food and looking for something a bit more upmarket but with a good atmosphere I couldn't recommend Borough enough! Borough is a relaxed, family-owned restaurant in the heart of Leith serving up an ever changing set menu. They cook using traditional methods, the best local ingredients, and creative ideas. They are all about the pureness of flavour and the simplicity of delicious food done well.

Another one for the food lovers! It is slightly on the pricier side but if you go at lunch time you get a lot of the same food for a decent price. Fine dining in the heart of Leith Best suited for individuals with adventurous palates, Aurora offers a fine dining experience that doesn’t rely on tradition. Guests are welcomed by a personal and intimate atmosphere, and invited to explore a seasonal tasting menu of Modern European cuisine in our refined establishment.

Neighbourhoods

Leith is one of Edinburgh’s most eclectic, exciting and trendy areas. With a very different atmosphere and feeling from areas like Stockbridge, Morningside or the city centre, Leith offers a more earthy, edgy and independent vibe, recently being named one of the world's 'coolest neighbourhoods'. Leith Walk is lined with shops, restaurants and bars where you’ll find a real Edinburgh welcome. Shops range from supermarkets to independent book shops and other nooks where you’ll find the rare and unique. Bakeries, cafes and independent grocers mean Leith still holds strongly onto its own identity, even a century on since it was officially incorporated into the city of Edinburgh in 1920. Home to the city’s historic port on the Forth, Leith is home to a beautiful waterfront where restaurants, bars, pubs and shops open out to stunning views of Fife, and is a frequent stop for cruise ships. You’ll also find the Royal Yacht Britannia - a floating former Royal Residence - next to Ocean Terminal shopping centre where you can dine and shop to your heart’s content. The Water of Leith provides a beautiful walk that will take you through Leith past some of Edinburgh’s most photo-worthy spots including the Dean Village.

Stockbridge, to the north of the city centre, has a village feel and charm. It has a definite Bohemian vibe and many artists, musicians, poets, writers and thespians have made the area their home. Young professionals and decades-long residents co-mingle in this delightful pocket at the bottom of the New Town, which stretches all the way to the plush realm of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

Explore miles of award-winning sandy beach, ice cream parlours, arcades and beach-side cafes and bars. The perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon, or even a winter one, if you want to blow away the cobwebs.

City/town information

If you fancy venturing out of Edinburgh, North Berwick is worth a shout. Really cute little seaside town with lots of shops and restaurants - also the best lobster I've ever had at the 'Lobster Shack' wee takeaway truck at the dock.

I have to give a shoutout to our neighbours in the west! I'm not afraid to admit that the Glaswegians are the fun ones! If you are looking for a good night out or some live music, Glasgow is where you wanna be! You'll be met with a bit of banter!
