Things to do in the area

There is plenty to do in the area from bush walking, shopping, dining, City tours. Here are some of our favourites.
There is so much to see and do in the Royal National Park. Start by going to the Audley visitor centre for useful advice and to get a permit for A$12 as well as a guide map and leaflet. You can buy a parking ticket online and print off. This is a very good place for having a picnic with family and friends. You can hire cycle and boats here. Walking and cycling trails are available, however the path is not even so not wheelchair accessible. The restaurant area is also good providing free WiFi We park up at Wattamolla which has an unusual and stunning beach sandwiched between the river and ocean. It even has it's own small waterfall. Well worth a visit. We hike around 13k to wedding cake rock and back but take the little and big Marley tracks slightly inland first before following the coastal path to the rock and returning on the coastal path back. This is more of a loop hike and I would recommend it. It took us just under 3 hours and the views are wonderful. The walk itself is quite easy with some steps and uneven surfaces, minor inclines and two shortish beaches.

A lovely place to wander the winding paths amongst the greenery admiring plants and ducks then lunch at the Cafe, great selection of dishes and plenty of it, won't go hungry.

A cliff top coastal walk, the Bondi to Coogee walk extends for six km in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The walk features stunning views, beaches, parks, cliffs, bays and rock pools. The beaches and parks offer a place to rest, swim or a chance to eat at one of the cafes, hotels, restaurants or takeaways. All beaches offer picnic shelters, electric barbecues, play areas, kiosks, toilets and change-rooms. The walk is not difficult, there are medium gradient paths and several staircases with occasional seating. It takes about two hours to complete the Bondi to Coogee Beach section of the walk and another hour and a half if you choose to continue to Maroubra

Cronulla has so much to offer, surf, shopping, dining. The coastal walk is a fabulous walk - just quietly stroll along the waterfront watching the waves or the surfers, or gaze down at Port Hacking - a busy little spot up around the main beach, but gets quieter the further south you go. 8 kms return if you go the whole way from Wanda to Bass and Flinders memorial. Flat and easy almost all the way, with one set of steps that can be bypassed by following the path behind the Surf Club. Take your bathing suit for a swim in the rock pools or a dip in the surf. Buzzy, but not nearly as hectic as Bondi. Suitable for prams

Great drive to spot some whales and do some walking. Even without seeing any whales can still appreciate the spectacular views.

Chirstmas Lights - Allambie Avenue, often referred to as Candy Cane Lane, is a well known favourite and a Christmas eve hot-spot. Just about every house is lit up, there is a real buzz in the street and a lovely sense of community. On Christmas Eve they block off the street for Santa’s arrival and there is even a kids playground!
