My kids love the Goat Barn to pet the goats and explore the beautiful property. Take the trail across from our house (you must go through the woods for about 10 ft at Bonclarken ln and then you will see the trail) - this takes you into town or you can cut through Flat Rock Playhouse to reach the parking lot for Carl Sandburg's house. After morning exploring, head to lunch at Hubba Hubba BBQ (seasonally open) or Village Bakery (always delicious with sandwiches and pizza).

Drive the parkway or stop and hike... my personal favorite is Black Balsam hike, where my husband proposed but it’s short trail that my kids can handle too with beautiful views!

Head towards the Davidson River Campground and you will pass an ice cream shop that rents tubes for $3. Pick up your tubes, tie them to the top of your car and pick your spot to drop in. The campground is a perfect spot to put in. Appropriate for little ones as the river is shallow and shady.
