Eats and Drinks
Although a lot of places come and go up there, some places have lasted and it's usually because they are fantastic. But some of the newest additions are definitely worth a try.
Incredible beer selection, honestly more local brews on tap than I thought I’d ever see up here. The food goes incredibly well with not just the beer, but with kids too! Tater tots?! Sweet potato tater tots!? Good hummus? I couldn't believe it. The view they have of the lake would usually mean the food and/or service would suck, but not here. Everyone is fantastic, friendly, and inclusive. Full bar, for those who need it too. (This all means there’s usually a wait on weekends.)

Great old school diner. Even a little salad bar installed in the 80's, I'm sure. We hit this when we leave town early, or just don't want to think too much about breakfast.

Downstairs, by the lake, always a wait on weekends, but ALWAYS good. Good coffee (from Intelligentsia!), great Waffles and sandwich options. I actually love their tuna salad and fish and chips. Staff is super cool.

Safe place to bring kids, enjoy some decent pizza, get a great pitcher of beer. They have a tiny arcade that only has one entrance so sit at the picnic table and send them in to play air hockey and you'll enjoy good conversation or some sports ball thing on the million or so TVs. They have a great outdoor seating area too.

Two major options...
Great because it's close and they have just about everything (including a Starbucks). Good place to stop on the way in or if you need something quick. Old school bakery, organic wine, good deli and some very decent beer choices.

This is the place to do the big shopping trip for a weekend if cost is an issue. Won't find every version of organic food here, but a great butcher, and a huge beer and liquor selection to balance it out. This is where the locals do their shopping.

Good place to go to get out of the house. Some outlets that have good deals, cool restaurants now, and one of our favorites: the fossil store. Sporting needs, Children's play areas (bumper cars!) and duck food galore. Locals and tourists all come here for stuff to do. There's also a McDonald's and Subway if you need fast food.
ALSO NOTE: if you need to get groceries, Stater Bros. is upstairs and a great way to NOT to have to leave the house again.
