A longer walk, about 20 minutes. This whole area is interesting - you can stroll up and down Bergmannstrasse and check out the whole area. Barcomi's has great cake - mainly American style, along with bagels and such.

Definitely further afield from my place - I'd take the U-7 or Bus M41. But if you want a decent burger, it's a good option.

Full of yuppies, expats, and tourists - and always a lively atmosphere. The area around the Markthalle is great for exploring - called the Wrangelkiez, again lots of food, drink etc.

Walkable in maybe 20 minutes, an awesome rooftop bar. At certain times, early evening in summer, expect a wait, especially on weekends. But the atmosphere and view are wonderful.

Unquestionably the coolest Japanese entrant in my guide. I enjoy the food immensely and am a Japanophile purist who's been to the very best restaurants in Tokyo. Ryotei is inventive, definitely not inexpensive, and it infuses its dishes and atmosphere with a Berlin vibe. Certainly the only Berlin Japanese place to get bluefin tuna (which we shouldn't be eating), chuutoro, and uni. It also has ceviche and some approximation of Japanese hot dishes. Recommended.

A 15-20 minute walk from my place a bit further down from the Turkish market that takes place on Tuesdays and Fridays. A nice selection of donuts in a cute place.
