Fantastic beach over the hill from Sumner - excellent for swimming and surfing. Also the base for some excellent hikes out to Boulder Bay and Godley Head. Undulating walk on well formed tracks with magnificent scenery. A personal favourite of mine!

Lovely walk up Cashmere Hill with views over the city to the mountains. If you go all the way to the Summit you can also see views over the other side of the hill to the harbour. Start at Sign Of the Takehe and walk up to the Summit Rd at the top. 3km one way.

A very cool village vibe with great cafes, restaurants, brewery and farmers market.
Farmers market is on Saturday 10am to 1pm on London St, Lyttelton.

Sightseeing
A 1.5 - 2 hour drive north of Christchurch, Hanmer Springs is a beautiful alpine village with good eateries and a fabulous hot pool resort. Great walks and biking tracks here along with jet boating and other activities for those seeking some more adventure.

If you like down hilling without the uphill first then this is the place for you. Hire bikes available - chair lift up and bike one of the many trails down. If you don't want to bike then you can just pay for a sight-see and ride the chair lift up and down. Cafe and bar onsite too.

A new addition to the city and right on the beach New Brighton. Several hot pools plus a plunge pool offer a great way to relax. Make sure to book online for a session as they limit the numbers in at one time.

Our largest park located in the city centre. Also included our Botanic Gardens. Lots of walkways/cycleways. Beautiful especially in the spring and autumn as the leaves are changing or the blossoms are out.
