Fantastic local mountain with a magical mythical tale. Cadair Idris translates to The Chair of Idris who was a giant in Welsh mythology. He used this chair to view the heavens from this lofty point. If this wasn’t enough according to folklores, Llyn Cau is not only bottomless but the home of a Welsh water Dragon 🐉 which once lived elsewhere and terrorised the locals. King Arthur is said to have captured it and released it in Llyn Cau. For more stories visit the Cadair Idris visitors centre.

A lovely walk across Barmouth Bridge which crosses the Mawddach Estuary. You will have Cardigan Bay on one side along with spectacular Snowdonia on your other side!! Barmouth is a lovely seaside town with plenty of little shops, coffee and Ice Cream shops. There is currently free parking on the Fairbourne junction side.

For our guests who enjoy spectacular views with relatively ease of access this is a must visit, you can see why this is so popular for photographers. Nestling at 800 feet just above Dolgellau and Barmouth on the northern slopes of Cader Idris these little gems are owned by the National Trust. Here our guests may wish to drive, cycle or walk to. Once you have arrived there is a good sized car park (and public toilets) from which you can adventure along one of several paths varying in lengths around the lakes or even up the peak Pared y Cefn Hir. There is also Trout fishing available at the lakes where day permits are purchased from the nearby farm house. Whatever you choose to do walking/fishing/cycling /photography or simply sit and take in the breathtaking views this is somewhere you can go to to relax.
