Amazing lebanese food, great for a quick lunch. Cheap and easy, unbelievably tasty for the price. The falafel wrap or the chicken schwarma wrap are our go to! Hummus and babah ghanoush also done very well.

Castles
Authentic (and very large) castle with a moat nearby to Cardiff! Still in very good condition and easily accessible by train to Caerphilly or by car.

So many castles in Wales but this one is our favourite! An hour and a half from Cardiff, but you will be rewarded with amazing views over the estuary. No entry fee, you can take a picnic and sit on the grass in the middle and the kids can explore to their hearts content!

An hours drive from Cardiff. 1.5 hour, short and sharp walk of which at least half is up on a ridge with great views all the way over to pen-y-fan and the other way to the malvern hills.
Nearby skirrid inn is historic.

Amazing series of waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons national park. Plenty of places to walk and swim. Ask in the visitors centre for ideas or drive along the road to Ystradfellte and after a few miles (just beside a cattle grid) you will see where everyone parks to get close. Take your swimmers if you're brave, you won't regret it!

A nice walk and plenty of restaurants and bars. The highlight for me though is an event at the Millennium centre. It has a number of beautiful auditoriums and very often well priced tickets.
