Laugavegur is the main shopping street in central Reykjavík. Next to Laugavegur is Skólavörðustígur that is also a shopping street. From Laugarvegur comes Bankastræti and when you walk past Lækjargata you go down to Austurstræti. All these streets are full of restaurants and stores you might like. I can't think of any that I would not recommend.

A very famous hot dog booth where former president Bill Clinton got an Icelandic hot dog. They are the best in town. I recommend having a hot dog with everything, that is chopped onion, fried onion, mustard, ketchup and "remolaði" which is a mayonnaise based sauce with relish.

Thank you (when you are taking something, leaving a store or anything) : Takk or Takk fyrir
After you eat, you say: Takk fyrir mig
If you need to pass someone or get someones attention: Afsakið
