This mountain range includes, among the 48 highest peaks, the famous, and notorious, Mount Washington. Excellent hiking, mountain biking, downhill and cross-country skiing. One can also find pastoral swim holes to cool off on a hot day.

This is the closest hiking to my place, only about seven minutes away! The hikes are relatively easy and short but with a nice expansive view of Lake Christopher, North Pond, and the surrounding foothills.

Great local (you can see it from the apartment - about a ten minute drive) ski area that is not crowded and is very affordable. There are two mountains which accommodates skiers of all levels. Excellent ski instructors are on the premises.

Local restaurants, music/plays at 49 Franklin, and Black Mountain Ski Resort which is a small yet very affordable and forgiving mountain for beginners. Rumford Whitecap is a nice local hiking mountain.

Located a pleasant hour's drive south, this town located near lakes contains antique shops and restaurants. It is also the location of Shawnee Peak Ski Resort which includes night skiing but is not as crowded and is less expensive than Sunday River.
