Some excellent choices very close to my place...
Excellent choice just 15 min walk from the house (in East Arlington). Closes on Monday. They specialize on hot pot but their regular menu is really good too - I am not vegeterian but Ma Po Tofu or Szechuan souce eggplant are delicious meatless dishes here.

Ramen, ramen, ramen! Walk from the house using the bike path (take a left and cross the Mystic river, arrive to Boston Ave and turn left again). This place is inexpensive and serves delicious bowls of the best ramen. My favorite is the spicy miso one, but they are all good. Weird schedule - closes Monday, Thursday and Sunday evening.

Small breakfast place that gets very busy but will leave you satisfied! You need a car for this one, but will only take you 8 min there. Tip: if it is very full and you do not want to wait, walk one block over and find Kelly's diner. It is also busy but has more seating.

The nearest T station! Walk there in 20-25 min or get on the 87/88 buses on Broadway.
Besides the train station you will find a lively area, full of restaurants, a vintage theater, stores and bars.

Smaller than Davis Sq, it still has a few interesting spots, for example Capital Theater (an old school cinema still running), Quebrada Bakery, Little Q Pot, or a small gift shop called Maxima, where you will be able to find the perfect gift for anyone (some of them are specific to Boston and even Arlington!)
