Saturday Vancouver Farmer's markets
The Saturday farmers markets run March 16th through October 27th. It is much better than the Portland farmers market, and really fun for the kids. In the summer there is a splash park at the same location.

Portland has a huge food truck selection. Take advantage while you are here!
My favorite food truck park is at 10th and Alder in downtown Portland. You should be able to choose between 40-60 options of all sorts of cuisines.

Vancouver is easy to get around
Portland is generally hectic to park and drive around in. Vancouver is much smaller and more relaxed. You should be able to cross one side of Vancouver to the other in 10-15 minutes if you use Waze.

Almost all of Vancouver is very safe
In Vancouver, 90% of the town is very safe. Be more watchful of your car in the Hazel Dell area.
In Portland, be more careful in the downtown, and then east of about 82nd avenue. Anything West and South of Portland will generally be safe.
The further east you go in Portland, the more you might feel the neighborhoods change.

There are several good shopping areas in Portland. Clackamas Town Center is the largest traditional mall in the area. Cascade Station by the Airport has a decent selection as well.
