My favourite pub for lazing. Great food. Great Sunday roast. Great breakfast. Great beer. Unpretentious. Beautiful old interior. The front terrace can get rammed during sunny weather. Tuesday quiz.

They often have DJs or other entertainment too. An absolute must when the Sun is shining.

Burgers don't come much better than this. And their rosemary fries are fantastic. For busy times they have a queuing app so you can head off for a drink elsewhere. Takeaway usually jumps the queue.

A very foodie Sunday market until about 4pm. I recommend Perk and White for coffee, the rainforest roti and the merguez sausage wraps. Stock up on cheese, then into The Commercial for a pint. Oh yes.

There is a downstairs bar with a menu of snacks and sharing dishes, and an upstairs dining room, where they serve an ever changing seasonal set menu of either four or seven courses. Some two years after being painted this modest mural unexpectedly became the epicentre for Bowie fans. There were still mountains of flowers two months later and the walls are covered in messages. It is planned to become a permanent tribute (I'm not quite sure what Bowie would have thought of that...)

A brilliant park. Look out for the huge flocks of green parakeets, especially as they nest at dusk. There is a fantastic playground, bowls & tennis courts, BMX track, Lido and gym. Perfect for a run.
