A retro-style, boutique little cafe offering amazing coffee and a fantastic range of breakfasts and lunch. It is vegetarian, vegan and gluten free friendly as well as serving up plenty to keep the carnivors happy. Recommended for a late breakfast.

Sightseeing

This English Heritage sight is a must see in Whitby. Located above Whitby and looking out to see the Abbey has a fascinating history. It has been made iconic by virtue of the more recent associations with Bram Stoker's Dracula. Park in the English Heritage carpark up by the abbey or walk up the 199 steps from the town. There is a shop and visitors centre.

This is a huge sweeping beach. Well known for fossil hunting on the cliffs and a great place for rock pooling. There is a basic cafe and shop by the beach and several car parks. Take great care by the cliffs if fossilising.

a beautiful fishing village leading down to a horseshoe bay. Beautiful little shops (including the most amazing old fashioned sweet shop) and a pub by the bay. It can get busy in the summer so we recommend parking in the public carpark at the top and walking down although if you have mobility issues you can drive down and park.

Robin Hood's Bay is about a 20 minute drive. A beautiful small town by the sea - a must see place to visit. Wander down the narrow cobbled lanes, visit the boutique shops and grab some superb food at a number of cafes, pubs and fish and chip bars. There is a gorgeous beach to walk along or take a dip from if you are brave enough. At low tide you can walk all the way along the beach to Boggle Hole - where there is a moderised YHA with a beautiful cafe - snug in the winter with a fire and gorgeous in the Summer with lots of outside seating. Read about the Boggles who legend has it helped see off the smugglers of the boggle cove. Robin Hood's Bay is understandably popular and gets busy in the summer - we recommend parking at large carpark at the top of the town and walking down if you can. There is also a superb circular walk from the car park out along the cinder track and around the coast to Boggle hole and back to Robin Hood's bay.

A visit to Goathland is a must - about a 10 minute drive toward the Yorkshire moors Goathland was made famous by the 1980's series Heartbeat. The station was used as Hogwart's station in the Harry Potter films. Drive straight there for a walk around or better still take the steam train from Grosmont to Goathland and either return the same way or follow the well marked walking track back. If walking, take a small detour to Beck Hole and the tiny pub by the weir to soak up the summer sun or warm up by the fire in the winter. They even run a very tiny sweet shop to keep the kids happy.

Walking

If you have come from the York direction you will pass this as you drive over the moor. A spectacular natural amphitheatre in Moors. There is a car park directly opposite and you can take either a short walk or a long circular walk around the 'hole'- said by some to have been created by Wade the Giant who, in anger at his wife, scooped a handful of the earth to throw at her.

Visit the Falling Foss - a beautiful long waterfall which now has a lovely cafe next door. This is very rustic and unspoilt - we recommend that you walk to reach this and you can undertake a circular walk. Follow the river through the woods. About a 10 minute drive from the house.
