We highly recommend a cruise to Hole in the Rock as it covers most of the inner islands, Cape Brett and you may be lucky and see dolphins on the way. Lunch is usually included in a picturesque spot on this trip at Otehei bay on Urupukapuka island.

The Maori performers are great, and you can view the Treaty House, carvings as well as the new museum. Waitangi is less than 10 minutes’ drive from the centre of Paihia and well worth seeing.

Otehei Bay is a beautiful bay on Urupukapuka Island. It can be reached by water taxi from Paihia. There is a cafe and great walks to various beaches. Great for swimming and snorkeling. Kayaks can also be hired.

To get there take either the passenger ferry from Paihia wharf or the car ferry from Opua.

Pompallier Cafe is a fabulous little coffee shop and patisserie attached to Pompallier House, a historic attraction in Russell. It has amazing French pastries, coffee and great service in a relaxed setting overlooking the Bay. Definitely worth the visit.
