Mammoth Lakes in Eastern Sierras is a magical place fun to visit summer or winter. Hiking, biking, fishing, skiing , snowboarding are some off the outdoor activities available at fingertips. Its also wonderful to visit and just be.
Its a very nice and scenic drive to get to this place. Once you park the car there are picnic tables and lots of room for kids to play in the area adjacent to the crack, winter or summer. The crack hike is very minor (steps) but the experience is cool, especially for kids.

7 Minaret RoadIts a very nice and scenic drive to get to this place. Once you park the car there are picnic tables and lots of room for kids to play in the area adjacent to the crack, winter or summer. The crack hike is very minor (steps) but the experience is cool, especially for kids.
If you are up to it, park your car and hike or bike uphill to the lake basin.
