This gem is an absolute MUST for anyone who loves cheese and country settings. Alje makes his own cheese and has won numerous awards for them. It is a bit of a drive, but if you are doing other things in that area or you are driving that way or through there, it is well worth it. Heck, it is so good, I would drive there just for lunch! Everything is made especially for you and he only takes reservations. Not particularly child friendly though, but great for couples, groups or solo travellers.

Markets
If you are in Plett over a weekend, then definitely make a turn at the Saturday Market. It is 12km from us and opens from 8am till 12pm. The local Park Run also starts and ends at the market at 8am. Great coffee, wonderful breakfasts and other eats as well as a very varied craft section and lively music. Great atmosphere and you can also buy some very fresh local veggies at incredible prices. Come say hi to us too... we sell the colorful hippie pants!
To get to the market, turn left on the Airport Road and follow it all the way to the N2. Drive straight over the N2 to the Market Parking lot.
It is open every Saturday come rain or shine from 8am till 12pm.

The Kranshoek Trail is a challenging but very beautiful trail. It starts at the Kranshoek picnic site at the top of a tall waterfall, then winds it's way through the forest down into the gorge through which the waterfall's stream flows. It follows this stream towards the coast and then leads along the coast before going up the slopes to the plateau and back to the picnic site via the Kranshoek viewpoint.
On this trail you'll get to see a bit of everything our beautiful area has to offer, from indigenous forests to fynbos to breathtaking coastal views, the Kranshoek Trail has it all.
For those who find the full trail a bit strenuous there is an optional shortcut up to the Kranshoek viewpoint and back to the picnic spot (about 4km) shortly after reaching the coast.
Permits/Costs: Obtain a permit from the small office at the boom. If the boom is unmanned a self issue permit applies, there is a wooden box with permits at the boom. Free for Wild Card members.

This walk takes you to the impressive Cathedral Rock, a rock arch on the beach near Keurboomstrand.
If the tide is out, the walk can be done entirely on the beach; if the tide is in there is a path up through the coastal vegetation above the beach that will take you safely to the river mouth. While the beaches themselves are not safe bathing beaches, there is a very cute little rock pool directly on the far-side of the arch that would definitely be good for a dip in warmer weather.
There are public ablutions as well as showers at the parking lot. There are lifeguards on duty at the main beach in season.
Park in the parking lot. Walk down to the boardwalk that goes in front of the restaurant and to the left.
Take the stairs down on to the sand and continue along the beach.
Pass through the narrow passageway between the rocks, continuing along the beach on the other side. The arch is just across the beach that separates the small lagoon of the Matjes River from the ocean [-34.002539, 23.471202].
To return via the high water trail, walk from Cathedral Rock back across the beach but head toward the rocks at the river’s edge; you will see an “Exit” sign [-34.002142, 23.469211]. Boulder hop to the sign which directs you up a path that has log steps laid across it on the way up.
Take the short detour marked simply with an arrow pointing to the right; this short detour takes you to the Matjes River Rock Shelter.
The trail then heads back through the coastal thicket until it drops steeply down to the beach [-34.002836, 23.465105]; be careful on this section as both the rocks and the metal stairway are very slippery.

Great if you are planning a day in that area doing Radical Raptors, The Knysna Elephant Park, Blue Hills Bird Farm, The Wolf Sanctuary, Wild X Adventures or Adventureland.
The Spur needs no introduction. They are a great option for lunch or dinner when you need to keep the kids entertained during bad weather as they have a lovely play area with attendants .

Perched on a hillside overlooking the Plettenberg Bay, St Peter’s church is located on a site where one would ordinarily expect to find a hotel or homes reserved for the wealthy. The grandness of this setting seems to enhance the harmony the stone church. Whilst other architecture may respond to the view in grandness and celebration, the church makes no reference to its surrounds.
They welcome visitors for Sunday Communion or their special Easter and Christmas services!
