Food/Brew
Food is seriously good in the Skagit Valley. Dairy, meat, produce, grain, and flower farming are still practiced today.
I prefer high quality affordable food in places/spaces which are not formal. Let me show you some of my favorites. If you would like recommendations for more formal places please let me know.
Skagit Valley Food Co-op
202 S 1st StThis is a very local, almost secret place. The best Thai food in Skagit County. The restaurant is very small. All diners eat at a lunch counter, about 8 seats, you watch your food being cooked right in front of you. Dinner/lunch and a show!
There is always a line out the door. If you don't want to wait get orders to go! If the weather is good take your food to the river walk plaza and have a picnic. Best food and a river view. What could be better? :)

Farmstrong Brewing Company

I love this place because the beer is made there, the beer is diverse and the brewery is casual and comfortable.
You can bring your own food in! Sometimes there is a food truck but you can bring food in also.
This place is kid and dog friendly all hours and there are board games.
In the summer there is a beer garden outside.

This place is a bar, and a good one, but it also produces some amazing food. It is quite literally on the railroad tracks in nearby Burlington, Wa. If you want to go out for a local drink and take in the valley scene this is the place to be.
Coffee is roasted and served here also. It is some of the best local coffee I have had. I am picky about coffee. You can buy it by the pound also.

Train Wreck Bar & Grill

Sightseeing
I love the river walk and plaza. It is a great place to watch the river and see boats and birds go by. The plaza is close to restaurants and coffee shops. The Farmers Market happens here too. It opens in May and runs through the end of September.
In the summer free weekly concerts happen here.
The walk and plaza are closed to traffic so it is a great place for kids and dogs.

The Lincoln is a nonprofit entity that supports and hosts live music, theater and film events. I love the Lincoln for the diversity of offerings. I also love that the Skagit Valley pulled together to save this venue from destruction. When I attend I always enjoy the presentation and feel connected to my community. I suppose this is the theatrical equivalent of a Food Co- op.

This is one of the best art and fun stuff stores in the valley. Creative toys, gifts, gags, puzzles, books. PLUS a paint your own art studio. They also have POPCORN. I kind of want to go to work here because it is so cool. It is right across the street from the Food Co-Op.

Places to be outside
This is a large and beautiful park. There are tennis courts, huge cedar trees, covered gazebos for picnics, well cared for and large play structures for children. This park is a no drive through park so there are no cars to worry about. Kids can freely run.
In April the Kiwanis's club hosts a Salmon BBQ fundraiser all month. The food is delicious and I highly recommend it as meal and a way to do good in the community.
So grab a cup of coffee or some take out and head out to this beautiful, quiet and spacious park.

This is a great park for Kids in the warm months. There is a fun spray play area, nice bathrooms, fields to run around in and picnic tables. Grab some food to go and have a great time splashing around.

I have enjoyed several hours here with a sandwich or a cup of coffee. Feels peaceful, big, open and calm. There is a gift shop and a place where you can purchase cut flowers, bulbs and other items.

An amazing new YMCA! Many pools, a lazy river, indoor running track, classes! So much fun to be had here and kids are welcome. Drop in fees are reasonable. Check and see if your Y membership allows you to visit for free.
