Mount Maunganui, locally known as The Mount is the iconic landmark of the Tauranga area. With stunning views from either the summit or around the base track, this is a must do when in Tauranga. (Approx 45 min to the summit, or 45 min around the base track.)

Great place to take kids for the day :) They also do awesome glow worm night kayak tours - suitable for everyone.

Only a short drive, taxi or Uber into Tauranga CBD,, the Strand has many great bars and restaurants to quench a thirst or satisfy a hunger. Rye, Nomad and Volare are very good restaurants. The Phoenix, Brew Bar and Barrel Room have great craft beers and wines, and frequently live music.

New World Brookfield is only 5 min drive, or a 10 min walk from our barn loft. Easily the best supermarket in Tauranga, and has every provisional need. The shopping centre next door also has a chemist, takeaway shop, snack shop, convenience store and liquor store.

Parks & Nature
McLaren Falls Park is 190 hectares of parkland set alongside Lake McLaren and is just twenty minutes by car, from Tauranga. The park is popular for camping, fishing, kayaking, disc golf course, wedding photos, picnics, bush walks and summertime concerts. It is also home to one of the best botanical collections of trees in New Zealand. One of the highlights of the park is the waterfall track where you can see glow worms after dusk. Enjoy a short, easy stroll to the picturesque waterfall and spot the glow worms on either side of the track. The park has a great cafe. You'll also want to stop at the stunning McLaren Falls before you get to the park to take in the views and snap a few pix.

If you have young kiddies, taking them to Marshalls animal farm is a great day out, pack a lunch as this is near McLarens falls park, which is a beautiful park to walk through.

The Tauranga Art Gallery is one of New Zealands newest and most respected regional public galleries.
Situated on the corner of Wharf and Willow Streets, in the heart of the CBD, the Tauranga Art Gallery building has been designed to meet modern art gallery standards.
The gallery delivers exhibitions of historical, and contemporary art. Exhibitions are developed in house by gallery staff with the balance being a mix of touring exhibitions from other institutions and artist projects.
