Shopping and Restaurants

Great Markets for Food and stuff. Restaurants are located throughout the city, our focus is the Arts District where you are located, and Downtown, which is just 1.1 miles west of us. We have a couple of remarks in these sections, but there is so much that we recommend that you let your search engine go wild.
The shopping center on the South side of Washington Bl. just past the train station. Lots of food choices, restaurants, snacks, and shops. We have not checked out all the food choices, so have your own adventures and give us some feedback. Among the restaurants that have a good vibe are Loqui for Mexican - Margot, with a rooftop open-air section - Bianca for Italian - and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream to finish off any good meal.

Opposite corner (Southeast corner) from the Train Station, this upscale market has a salad and hot food selection, smoothies and coffee. It leans heavily organic and is a perfect place to stop and pickup your next meal to cook or already prepared.

Famous in most parts of the U.S. for good pricing and a wide selection of food and drink. Our favorite for regular shopping. It is located right in Downtown Culver City, with its own free parking while shopping. It's a little less than a mile from our house, so you can work off some of the calories you will be consuming if you don't take your car.

Outstanding and popular for breakfast every day. Our favorite breakfast place downtown (good for lunch and dinner too). No reservations, but they have an organized electronic waiting list. Outdoor seating is dominant and very calming.

On the ground floor level of the Shay Hotel, it is gourmet Italian from chef Brad Rey, the former pastry chef at NoMad. Priced at the upper end for Italian, it has a lovely patio and inside accommodations.

Just 1.5 blocks from us, the coffee is superb and the food is delicious. Simple inside and out. It's the food and nice people who prepare it, that make it a go-to place for us.
