Towns and villages along the North Norfolk coast

Dotted along the north coast are charming villages such as Cley, Burnham Overy, Stiffkey and Salthouse that were once thriving ports but whose harbours have long since silted up. But dozens of picturesque sailing boats still bob up and down in the creeks of Morston, Wells, Blakeney and Brancaster. https://www.norfolkmag.co.uk/out-about/places/north-norfolk-villages-prettiest-places-to-visit-1-6031612
Wells is a charming old fishing port built around a harbour which turns into a muddy creek at low tide. The beach is lined with colourful beach huts and is reached by a short drive or a ride on the little train that chugs the quarter mile to the coast. Walking and cycling

The North Norfolk coast path goes for miles along the spectacular coast; expect unspoiled beaches, dunes, salt marshes, woodland and pretty towns and villages. The coast hopper travels in both directions along the coast so you can park your car, go for a walk and catch the bus back to your vehicle, or else do a circular walk. You can also cycle along the path, but it can get be muddy so an off road bike would be best. Heydon is my favourite spot to cycle to from Foulsham along quiet country roads. Built around a large green, the village is privately owned, which is why it is so unspoiled. Given that Binham Priory only ever housed 14 monks, it is absolutely huge. Henry VIII sacked the monastery in 1539 and gave it to Sir Thomas Paston, who dismantled most of the building creating the spectacular ruins that you see today. Look out for the concerts held there over the summer. https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/binham-priory/

Art

Housed in a hi-tech building designed by Norman Foster, the Sainsbury Centre in Norwich has a world class collection of art. An interesting dialogue is created between the work of famous 20th century artists like Henry Moore and prehistoric art and artifacts.
