Take the train towards Waterloo for your London day trips
The nearest station is Thames Ditton - a 15-20 minute walk away. That will take you to central London (Waterloo) in half an hour and Hampton Court 10 minutes in the other direction. Use Contactless or an Oyster card to pay the lowest fare.
The rush hour trains are often delayed heading to London from 5-7PM! Check your journey on nationalrail.co.uk. If they are cancelled, get a taxi or Uber to Surbiton for about £7.
There are also bus stops just around the corner from the house towards Surbiton and Kingston in about 15-20 minutes respectively.
