Very popular place to visit while in San Antonio. Free to the public! I do recommend purchasing an audio tour ($7/ea), if not a guided tour from the kiosk outside of the Alamo entrance. It is well worth the money, otherwise you may get there and wonder what all the fuss is about, not fully understanding the rich history around you. Also, don’t let the line intimidate you, it goes very quickly. Cost of parking is $20 within a block or two of this site, price decreases the farther you get from it. Expect a little bit of a walk to get to the entrance from your parking location.
Don’t forgot to hit The Riverwalk directly across the street for some great food, ambiance, and additional site seeing.

The ticketing and boarding areas are accessible from the San Antonio River Walk. Expect parking to cost up to $20. This is a great side activity to do if you are already checking out the Alamo and/or River Walk so you don’t have to pay for parking on multiple occasions.

For those that love caves, Natural Bridge Caverns is a fun stop. The cave is a constant 70 degrees inside year around but is extremely humid so be prepared to sweat a little while climbing the steps in the cavern. Parking is free here, but ticket prices vary depending on the day. The highest I’ve seen is $25 for an adult. I recommend buying tickets online in advance to get the best prices. For those with a little extra adventure in their blood, they offer guided spelunking tours to deeper, more difficult sections of the cave for an extra fee.
This place offers above-ground fun as well. There is a zip line ropes course (separate adult & kid versions), planing for gold, an outdoor maze, food, and a souvenir shop, of course.

The kids love seeing the animals and so do I, if I’m going to be completely honest. My daughter’s favorite exhibit is the hippo encounter. I personally love the Okapi, a very rare animal only found in one Forrest in the entire world! There are multiple animals that you’d be hard pressed to find elsewhere. It’s well maintained and quite an enjoyable experience for everyone in the family. Parking is free but fills up very quickly, otherwise you’ll have to park further away and subject yourself to a bit of a walk. General admission is $18.50 for adults and $14.50 for children.

We take our littles here a couple times per week during the summer months. It’s free and a fantastic way to cool off in the heat! There is a shaded area for those that prefer not to get wet. Playgrounds with shade canopies are located right next to the splash pad.
