Because, Hagia Sophia belongs Christianity, that's why he wanted to show Islam is more powerful than other religions and Islamic places much more beautiful than the others. So, he gave to order to make this mosque to Architecture Sedefkar Mehmet. Finally, this magnificient mosque came out.

This place is one of the oldest place of Istanbul. Hippodrome which is ancient word means horse path, was built at 3rd century by Roman Empire. It was a entertainment place for Roman people. They made horse races, chariot races etc. Today, we see in the middle of hippodrome which calls spina. Spina has had so many statues from 3rd century but today spina has only 3 statues left which are Obelisk of Theodisus, Serpent Column, Walled Obelisk.
