Things to do: We release ALL liabilities to our suggestions if there are any accidents, casualties etc. Always remember : Make SAFETY your number one priority . Don’t be a Dumb Ass River Rat! Be responsible please. Keep you and your guests safe and out of harms way ALWAYS!

When water levels are low in the lagoon and in the River behind our house there are many other things to do while waiting for water to rise in lagoon .
***IMPORTANT Covid 19 update*** To save a BIG headache when you go to the lake there is a new process to get a year pass. They no longer sell day passes. Go to pay.gov and complete agency form for park pass. You can upload ahead of time . We realized there was a BIG line and the Park Ranger makes you turn around to leave and fill form out outside. A BIG hassle. WWW.pay.gov and follow directions. Lake Mohave is about 30 minutes down Hwy 95 from our house . We load up the ice chests, everyone makes their own sandwich, bring snacks and try and get an early start on the lake. While Katherine’s Landing is the closest launch ramp we have found it is busier so we like to go to Princess Cove launch ramp . When there is is flat water skiing is amazing especially if you go down near the Basin . Other activities we like to do is wakeboard, wake surf and inner tubing . It’s great to find a quiet cove and float and relax and have lunch. If you like to jump off rocks we’ve called an area Monsoon Cove. There’s a small rock to jump off of and across the way is a much larger rock for the ultimate thrill seekers . Also Gasoline Alley is a fun visit near Princess cove Launch ramp. After a fun day on Lake Mohave we head home and usually at that time the water level is up in the lagoon so we drop the boat at the private launch ramp into the lagoon . We then hook boat up to the dock and hopefully later on we go water skiing on the River at sunset . Best water skiing before sunset you turn left after leaving our lagoon headed toward the Avi Hotel and Casino.

Another fun day trip is to launch boat at Jack Smith launch ramp at Needles,CA. If water level is high in the lagoon, you could take your boat from our house all the way down to Needles,CA. We've done this trip several times but a SUPER long boat ride. We like launching in Needles,CA then explore down the River from there. Lunch at either Pirate’s Cove Naked Pirate or Topock 66 Restaurant . The food is good at both places. Naked Pirates have bucket drinks. Kind of pricey but still fun! Then head down to the Topic Gorge and if time permitting the Sand Bar. The Sand Bar makes for a long day. We’ve heard on busy weekends the water level is raised at The Sand Bar so people don’t hang out there like the old days . Then keep heading down the River and you’ll end up in Lake Havasu. Just for safety reasons, be sure to be back at Jack Smith Launch ramp before the sun sets. We always hope that all boat drivers are cautious, safe and sober . But after a long day on the River it’s just better to be off the River before it gets dark . Often the location of the sun setting could cause problems with boat drivers vision.

After launching at Jack Smith Launch Ramp in Needles, CA visit the Topock Gorge. It’s beautiful, tranquil and the rock formations are incredible .

Another fun thing to do are float trips. The easiest one is to attach a bunch of floats together. Grab an ice chest and snacks and float throughout the lagoon . Another float trip takes a bit of planning ahead of time. Not recommended with little kids. I’ve heard some of the guys don’t really enjoy this one because at the end of this trip you’re steering your group to end up at the Avi hotel beach area. Wouldn’t advise doing this on a busy weekend but during the weekday is better . First drop off a few cars and leave at the Avi Hotel . Go back to house and attach floats, inner tubes etc. together . It’s a great idea if you have SEADOOS to follow the floats down the River . Of course bring an ice chests and snacks . Have everyone wear a life vest. Everyone finds a spot on the attached floats. Head towards the end of the lagoon that leads to Colorado River . Go left on the River. Initially current is super fast .Then relax and float down the River . When you see the Avi Hotel in the distance it’s a good idea to stay to the right side of the River. Takes some planning but when you approach the Avi beach area people kick and steer floats into the beach area. Then tie down all floats to truck and everyone hops in cars and goes back to the house .

If you can still rally after a day on the water and in the hot sun, across the River in Laughlin, NV is a fun place to visit. On your boat you can visit Laughlin taking a right when you leave our lagoon. But last we checked there was nowhere to dock your boat . But a fun boat ride. Or hop in your car , drive down Highway 95 , cross the River and you’re in Laughlin . There are many things to do in Laughlin. If you like to gamble there are many casinos. Don’t think they payout as much as Las Vegas but still fun most of the time. We like to take the kids bowling at The Riverside Hotel and Casino. Busy on weekends but always a blast. They give Military discounts at the bowling alley too. A couple of movie theaters in Laughlin . One at the Riverside Hotel and Casino . The other at The Laughlin Outlet shopping center. On Tuesdays, this movie theater has a great all day movie special .(subject to change) Speaking of outlets, not the largest of outlets but a couple of my favorite stops are the Bath and Body Works and The Bass outlet stores. During the Fall and Spring Laughlin hosts AMAZING concerts at their outdoor venue. We’ve seen some of our favorite country music artists like Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and Dierks Bentley to name a few. The “cheap seats” aren’t too bad either! There are many delicious restaurants in Laughlin. Check out Yelp for many suggestions. If you like sushi and Japanese food, my favorite is Minato’s. Check out reviews in Yelp. It’s yummy! In N Out Burger is always a favorite after a late night of gambling! Steakhouses are popular too. I’ve heard the casino buffets are economical and very good too. I know Aquarius Casino gives a two for one special if you sign up for their free rewards card. Check out casinos for senior citizens deals too. If you are looking for a Catholic Church, the Riverside Hotel and Casino has a wonderful service. Fr. Charlie always shares a wonderful message and kind of unique celebrating Mass in a casino. Or you can check the website for St. John the Baptist Catholic Church .

Oatman is a fun place to visit if you have nothing else to do. Check out reviews for this Wild West ghost town on Route 66. The donkeys roam freely in the streets. Always look down when you walk!
